How To Turn Your Garage Into A Multi-Functional Space

Most people use the garage for storing their car or maybe just as a storage area for all of the junk that they don’t need but haven’t thrown away yet. But is that really the best way to use that space? There are so many other things that you can do with the garage and if you’re just using it for storage, you’re wasting a valuable space in your home that you could be using for so many other practical things. If you haven’t been doing much with your garage, here are a few simple things that you can add to make it a lot more functional.

Ceiling Hooks

If you’re storing a bike in the garage, you could shove it in the corner or you could buy yourself a bike rack so you can fix it to the wall. It saves you a lot of space so you can use the garage for other things, the only problem is, they’re quite expensive. You can easily pay upwards of $200 for a proper bike rack, but the thing is, you don’t really need to. If you just get a set of cheap ceiling hooks instead, you can still store your bikes out of the way and open up space for other things in the garage but it won’t cost you that much money at all. You don’t just need to use them for bikes either, you can hang whatever you like on there. If you make more use of the vertical spaces for storage, you give yourself a lot more floor space to play with so you can create a multifunctional garage.

Laundry Area

The washing machine and laundry area takes up quite a lot of room inside the house, so why not move it outside into the garage instead. All of the space that you save inside can be used for extra storage or, if you’ve got a specific utility room, that could even be turned into a small office space or something. Just get a washing machine outside and then add a laundry tub and a laundry tub faucet to the wall nearby. That way, you can do all of your washing out in the garage and you’re not wasting valuable space inside the home.

A Foldable Workbench

Having an area in the home where you can do DIY projects is great, but if you turn the whole garage into a workshop space, you won’t be able to use it for anything else. The good news is, you don’t need to. If you add a foldable workbench against one wall, it won’t take up any space when you’re not using it but when you need to do some work, you can simply fold it down and you’ve got a ready made workshop.

Magnetic Strips

You’ll need tools for your workshop area but you need an elegant way to store them all without having hefty tool boxes all over the place. Magnetic strips are the best solution to this problem. They’re cheap to buy and easy to fix onto the walls. You can attach all of the tools to them so you’ve always got easy access and they aren’t taking up any floor space.

These simple additions will turn your garage into a great multifunctional space so you can get a lot more use out of it.
