Spring Makeup Favs!!

SFSpring and Summer are all about fun, color, and the warm sunshine weather. So of course why shouldn’t your makeup match the season? I’m going to share with you my must have beauty products for Spring and Summer. These are products I think everyone needs (to bring on the warm weather). I’ve made a list of one product (for each category of makeup) that I feel is best start to creating that perfect spring/summer makeup look!

SF2Now when I think Spring and Summer, I think of fun bright colors (nothing dark or dramatic).  We all know with these seasons, comes sunshine and heat! I want a foundation and primer that will keep my face moisturized, protect it from the sun, and stay on through hot sweaty days and insane humidity.

My pick for the best primer combo for Spring (and any other time of the year) is my absolute holy grail primer duo the Smashbox photo finish primer water ($16-$32 at Sephora and Ulta) and the Nivea Men’s Sensitive Post Shave Balm ( $5.54 at Wal-Mart). The primer water is great for dry skin and gives your skin a boost of hydration and it feels amazing! The post shave balm is the best primer you will use (any season of the year). It smells amazing and keeps your makeup all day!

For a Spring and Summer foundation I look for something that is light weight, and will not look to cake. I also want a product that can stay on through heat and humidity. One of my fav’s is the new Urban Decay Naked Skin One and Done Hybrid Complexion Perfecter. This is a tinted moisturizer that offers fare to medium coverage while remaining light (also contains an SPF) and is quick and easy to apply. The bottle has a pump, which  and allows you to just pump a small amount into your hands and rub it all over into your skin (with a brush or even your fingers). It lasts all day and offers sun protection (win-win). I highly recommend this for the warmer days.

For powder face products for Spring and Summer, I aim to have a fresh wash of color in my blush. Also it is important to look bronzed and tan without being too dark. My choice for a perfect blush is the Wet N Wild Ombre Blush in the shade “The Princess Daiquiris”. This shade is perfect for any skin tone (tan or fair). The ombre gives you two colors to choose from or you can combine them both for a perfect mix. The pinky/peachy color is a great option for Spring and Summer.

A bronzer that I find that looks the best is the Too Faced Soul Mates in the shades “Carrie and Big.” This has been my favorite bronzer and hands down a “best pick”. The packaging and name are adorable (who doesn’t love Sex and the City and heart-shaped things??) and the formula is amazing, definitely lasts all day.

When it comes to my eyes, I look for bright colors, lots of pink shades, and a fresh natural look. For primer my go-to is the Wet N Wild Photofocus Eye Primer. This primer is so efficient, and keeps your shadows in place through heat and sweat. I don’t have one set palette, but I have TONS of eye shadow shades that are perfect for that Spring look. “Marizipan” from the Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette, “Peanut Brittle” from the Too Faced Peanut Butter and Jelly Palette, “Dust” and “Limit” from Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette, “Pink Champagne” Anastasia Beverly Hills Single Eye Shadow, and the “Flower Shop” Colourpop Super Shock Shadow are some of my personal recommendations for that more light airy look for Spring days.

Now for the eye liner…. I don’t like doing a thick eye liner, or a wing unless I/m aiming for a night on the town.  I keep it simple and either do black, or a nude color in my water line (lower lash line). For those I use either NYX Slide on pencil in the nude shade, (around $4-$5 depending, available at Ulta) or Maybelline Mater Precise Skinny in black ($6.99 at Wal-Mart).

In terms of mascara I like long curled lashes (no matter what) so my go to is the Maybelline Lash Sensation (pink bottle). This mascara beats any high-end mascara I have ever tried. It’s so inexpensive and gives great volume and length to my lashes ($6.24 at Wal-Mart).

Last but not least is lips and for Spring and Summer ,I like either a light pinky/nude shade or a bright fun pop of color. For the nude look I love “Magic Wand” in the Colourpop Ultra Satin collection. The formula is amazing it doesn’t look cracked and dry, and gives you a nice natural lip to pair with a brighter eye look.

If you don’t like a satin finish my favorite gloss to top it off with is the NYX Butter Gloss in the shade “Fortune Cookie”. For a pop of color I use the NYX Liquid Suede Cream lipstick in the shade “Pink Lust”. I received this in my Ipsy glam bag for March and fell in love with this bold color. It’s so comfortable to wear on the lips and it is a perfect color for tan or pale skin.

A little side category is my other Spring and Summer MUST haves.

  • My personalized water bottle, my good family friend Tracie made me! She sells these on Facebook along with so many other super fun personalized items ($5 or $6)

  • Coppertone Tattoo Guard sunscreen. Perfect for laying out tanning with tattoos. No one likes a yucky faded tattoo (around $10).

  • Aussie 3 Minute Miracle. This is the best product to restore your hair back to its silky smooth self (especially after being in the ocean or chlorine filled pools).($2.97 at Wal-Mart)

  • Starbucks Peach Green Tea Lemonade. So refreshing (sorry I had to).

Hopefully you can take these suggestions and find products that work for you this Spring or even Summer (Most are universal for the two seasons). Please remember you don’t have to use the colors I suggested, if you wanna do crazy dark or something do whatever makes you happy! Makeup is all about giving yourself confidence and having fun.
