From Disrepair To Dream Home: Fast-Fire Tips For Making Your Farmhouse Functional

Buying a farmhouse is different from buying property anywhere else. In the majority of cases, you’ll only pay for a property which is in decent condition. At the very least, it’ll be a functional space. City properties are usually new enough to need little more than a lick of paint. Even more rural options are pretty workable in their market conditions.

But, the same can’t be said for farmhouses. Often, properties like these fall into disrepair. Many stand empty for years. Others are well loved but past their best point. Don’t let that put you off, though. Prices often reflect any repairs. Besides, few things feel better than moving into a farmhouse of your own. When it comes to it, you’ll also find that even the most seemingly dilapidated farmhouse may be closer to habitable than you realize. Often, taking care of a few critical jobs is all it takes. Read on to find out what they are.

4 Ways To Create A New-Old Farmhouse

4 Ways To Create A New-Old Farmhouse

There are some terms that are so rarely heard in the same sentence that they actually make you recoil for the briefest of moments while you make sure your ears weren’t playing tricks on you, and none more so than hearing the words “farmhouse” and “modern” spoken alongside one another. It’s an oxymoron. It’s a combination of styles that shouldn’t work on paper; that should conflict in such a way that you are left with a confused space, whether that be a whole house or one room. And yet, here we are, living in a world that forever shocks us and proves us wrong.

Keep Your Home Under Control Throughout The Year

Our homes are our pride and joy, and because of that, we always want to ensure that it is looking it’s best as often as possible. The idea of making this happen though can be rather stressful because you immediately imagine having a deep clean from top to bottom that takes you at least four days to tackle without any sleep. But this really isn’t the case, and there’s no need to run around like a headless chicken to get to where you want to be.

What It Takes To Open A B&B In Your Farmstead

What It Takes To Open A B&B In Your Farmstead

Just picture the scene. You are cooking breakfast in the kitchen – warm and light pancakes made with fresh eggs and milk. Somewhere in the house, you can hear someone opening a window. A shower is running in the distance, and when you strain yourself, you can even make up the sound of a voice singing the latest Beyoncé’s hit. You didn’t get to have a lie-in, unfortunately: You’ve been awake for almost two hours even though it’s barely past 8 AM. You got up early to pick the last berries of the season in the garden. You placed them in a bowl on the wooden kitchen table. They look sweet and juicy like hundreds of candies from Mother Nature. Next to them, there’s another bowl of yogurt, which you’ve made the evening before; its thick and shiny surface reflects the sunlight. You’ve also remembered to put out a few jars of homemade jams – strawberry, peach and figs – and a little pot of honey from a local beekeeper. Now, you just need to wait for the bread to finish baking in the oven, and you’re ready to welcome your guests. Does it sound compelling?

Create Special Spaces At Home

One of the biggest things that we often want to get out of having a home, is safety and comfort. We want to return after a non-stop day at work and be greeted by the warmth of our home that welcomes us in and takes all of that built-up stress and pressure away from us, leaving us to drift off into a peaceful state where we can recharge and start again. So if your home isn’t giving you that whenever you step foot in the door, there is definitely something wrong. Continue reading
